As a wedding photographer, first looks are one of my favorite parts of the wedding day to capture. When my couples tell me they're having one I always get super excited. Now, I may be a little biased when I say this but, I truly think they are so underrated. It's always such an incredible moment and not to mention a great photo op too! Traditionally couples will wait until they walk down the aisle to see each other for the first time on their wedding, but it is becoming more and more popular to have a first look instead.
Since first looks are becoming A LOT more common, let's talk about the reasons why you should consider doing one! Keep on scrolling for all the perks!

More Time For Photos
Since you can have a first look earlier in the day, it leaves a lot more time for photos! Couples that don't do a first look normally set an hour aside after the ceremony and before the reception to get all the bridesmaids and groomsmen photos, the bride and groom photos, AND family photos. That is a lot to stuff into a 1-hour time slot and photos can end up getting rushed and feel hectic. First looks allow you to get all those photos done before the ceremony even starts and you can go straight from the ceremony to the reception, or you can use the time in the middle for even more photos!
Private Vows
Private vows, yes you read that right! Vows that you don't have to say in front of an audience. This is a big one for all my introverts out there. If you do a first look, you can also make that a time where you tell each other your vows. This makes for an intimate time with just the two of you. You're in the spotlight on your wedding day and sometimes you just want a little time thats just between the two of you. Reading private vows to each other allows you to be more connected to your partner without worrying about who is watching and listening.
Photo Opportunity
It's your wedding day, you want all the photos possible! Adding in a first look gives you another photo opportunity. These photos are really special and you don't have to worry about someone making a weird face in the back ground or someone getting in the way. It's just the two of you and no one is around to mess anything up. You can slow down, take your time, and let yourself feel all the sweet emotions that come with seeing your partner for the first time. The photos that come from having a first look are truly so special.

KIND WORDS
"Danielle was so friendly and really fun to work with. She made me feel comfortable and knew exactly how to bring out my best angles! I would definitely work with her again; it was so much fun and the pictures came out great!"
