Congratulations! If you are reading this I assume you are engaged and trying to decide whether or not you should get your engagement photos done. And, well, as a photographer myself, I'm of course here to tell you that you should! Besides the fact that I'm totally biased in my opinion here, there are so many reasons why this holds true. Getting engaged is a huge milestone in your life. It's a season of life that only happens once and goes by in the blink of an eye. It's only right to have this special time captured to hold onto in a tangible way.

So, let's dive into it, shall we? If you're interested in hearing all of those reasons on why exactly engagement photos are a must, just keep on reading!

It's a Great Way to Celebrate!

What better way to celebrate your and your partner's engagement than by having your photos taken? Not to mention that you can make your engagement session into a date night too. Head out to a nice dinner after your session or go out into the city for something fun! In this way, your session can be turned into a really sweet and memorable evening for you two.

Sharing the News

I'm sure you've thought about how you're going to tell your family who lives states away or that friend you talk to here and there. That's when your engagement photos come in handy! Once you get your photos back from your photographer, you can mail them some of the photos or use them from social media to announce your engagement to the world!

Get to Know Your Wedding Photographer

Not only are engagement sessions included in my wedding packages but they're a great way for us to get to know each other! I love getting to know my couples and their love stories along with them getting to know me a bit more as well. This helps ease those nerves of "what will my wedding photographer be like?" and helps us be super comfortable with each other. Plus, after your session, you'll be a pro with posing for the camera on your wedding day!

Use Them for Your Wedding

After you've posted your engagement photos on social media or framed them in your house, you can get custom decor made for your wedding day. It's always great to sprinkle in some fun engagement photos around your wedding venue. You can even use your engagement photos for save the dates and wedding day invitations as well. The possibilities are endless with this one.

For My Camera Shy Peeps

Not everyone is naturally comfortable in front of the camera and that is totally normal! Make your engagement session almost like a mini-lesson on how you can get more used to the camera. I always try and make my couples feel as comfortable as possible during sessions by making sure they know it's a safe space for them to be themselves.
